Kingsmill Barn Bed & Breakfast

Set in the stunning country village of Wherwell, The Kingsmill Barn Bed and Breakfast is surrounded by natural beauty and some of the best scenery that Hampshire has to offer. The barn itself is a 16th Century conversion situated right on the River Test – well known for its incredible trout fishing.

With Winchester only 15 minutes by car and Stockbridge a mere 7 minute drive it is still fairly well connected despite having that feeling of being far from anywhere. Stefanie has outdone herself with the beautiful country décor and set up within the barn. It comprises of a super king bed, lounge area with TV, Tea & Coffee with homemade cake, and we appointed and recently renovated bathroom with rain shower and side shower. Outside there is a perfect patio for al fresco dining and even a shared river garden overlooking the Test.

We were served a beautiful full English breakfast in the morning, made to order, we were spoilt with local sausages and bacon, everything of course freshly prepared. With private access guests can come and go as they please and all this for just £100 per night it’s an absolute bargain for the location.

Not that you’d probably ever want to leave the comfort of your private barn there is so much to see and do in the immediate area. Perfect for wildlife and beautiful scenic walks, if you fancy a little more excitement then why not try your hand at horse-riding, cycling or clay-pigeon shooting at ‘Spitfire Shoot’.

Wilf was the first infant to have experienced The Barn and it turned out to be ideal. After a lovely pub meal he was able to set up camp in his travel tent in the lounge and I still had the comfort that it was all self-contained and safe for him. He had free reign of most of the barn with next to no hazards to hinder his curiosity and exploration.

Overall the barn was a very relaxing stay with ample space and plenty to do nearby, I will be recommending it to anyone visiting Hampshire that’s looking for a country stay for a very reasonable price!
